Tumble Dryer Belts
For lots of people in the UK, their household tumble dryer has become almost as regularly used as the washing machine, dishwasher or even oven. Unfortunately, just like every other household appliance, your tumble dryer will eventually run into issues that will hinder its performance or stop it working altogether.
One of the most common issues people ask us about is replacing a broken belt; luckily, it’s much cheaper order a new part than buy a new machine. The belt is a vital part of the tumble dryer that fits around the drum and the motor to provide the turning motion which helps dry the clothes. Without one, your tumble dryer is useless, but you’ve come to the right place. Take a look at our huge range of tumble dryer belts.
We have lots of belts in stock for appliances from all major manufacturers, including Hotpoint, Hoover, Indesit, Zanussi and many more. The majority of these are called poly-vee belts. These are flat but have grooves that run around the motor keeping everything in your machine in line.
It can be harder to fit the belt if you have a newer tumble dryer, as older machines will have jockey pulleys that take some of the tension and make the process easier. Today’s machines don’t have these, and it’s harder to adjust the motor . When your new belt arrives, you may be surprised at how much smaller it seems than the old one it’s replacing. Many people assume they’ve been sent the wrong product, but the old one has just been stretched over time by constant use. Eventually the new one will stretch to this size too.
Before fitting the new belt, it’s worth investigating why the old one snapped in the first place. It could be that an object got caught in the drum, stopping it from turning, or there could be a problem with the drum spindle and bearings at the back of the appliance. If you don’t find the reason , you risk the new belt following suit a few days or weeks down the line.
